This high-quality ink is specially designed for block printing on fabric, delivering vibrant, long-lasting prints every time. Whether you're creating custom t-shirts, bags, or home décor, this ink stays bold and beautiful, even after multiple washes. Its smooth consistency makes it easy to work with, giving you clean, crisp prints every time.

Did you know that block printing dates all the way back to ancient China? It’s one of the oldest printing techniques and has evolved into an amazing way to personalize fabric and paper alike. And because this ink is designed for fabric, it bonds to your material, meaning your designs will stay intact wash after wash. Plus, it's perfect for printing on a variety of surfaces like cotton, linen, and canvas – so your creative possibilities are endless!

A great tip for using this ink? To apply Speedball ink, make sure you have a smooth surface, like glass, methacrylate, or an acetate sheet, to spread the ink. You’ll also need a roller to apply it to your stamp. Just a heads-up – this ink isn't suitable for ink pads as it will dry out (we've tested it!).

When it comes to fabric, Speedball ink works best on materials like cotton, linen, denim, polyester, and fabric blends. Just avoid using it on fabrics that are too thick or too stretchy, and steer clear of nylon. For the best results, be sure to let the ink dry for about 24 hours. To make sure your design is permanent, wait 4 to 7 days before washing the fabric or clothing. For washing, use cold water and a neutral soap to keep your prints looking fresh!

Get ready to unleash your creativity and create some beautiful custom pieces with Speedball Fabric Block Printing Black Ink!

HOW DO I APPLY THE INK?
To apply the ink, you’ll need a flat surface like glass, acrylic or an acetate sheet to spread it out.

1. Add a small amount of ink to that surface and spread it out using a rubber brayer (the kind used for screen printing). Roll it out in all directions until you get an even layer of ink. You’ll know the ink is ready when you see tiny peaks form as the roller passes and when it makes that sticky-inky sound as it rolls.

2. Ink up the roller, turn your stamp upside down and roll the ink over it—both horizontally and vertically—until the whole design is covered. Do about 2–3 light passes so the stamp is fully inked, but not overloaded.

3. Do a test print on paper to check that everything looks good.

4. Ink the stamp again with 2–3 passes and press it onto your fabric. Press down across the entire wooden block. Make sure the fabric is nice and taut—if it’s thin, place a piece of cardboard underneath so the ink doesn’t bleed through. You'll need to ink the stamp before every print (around 2–3 rolls again), but don’t worry—with practice, you’ll find your rhythm.

5. If the ink starts to dry on the glass or acetate, just add a bit more and keep going.

ABOUT SPEEDBALL INK…
Drying time on fabric is around 24 hours. If you want the print to be permanent, wait 4–7 days before washing. No need to iron!

The fabric stays soft—you won’t feel a stiff ink layer on top. The ink actually soaks into the fibers of the fabric.

We recommend washing your printed items with cold water and gentle soap.

To clean your stamp, use a cloth dampened with warm water and a bit of soap. Just try not to soak the wooden part too much.
